Thanks Donna (Chloe’s Mum), for sharing your Wedding experience with us. Your beautiful pictures, shoes and bag certainly had the children enthralled. This is an interest with many of the children at the moment and it is great to link to real life experiences.

An interest in Weddings
Have you noticed the new displays going up in the main play? The children have been showing a keen interest in Weddings and all that relates to these. It has been a lot of fun listening to the childrens interpretations and answering their questions.
If you, or someone you know has anything relating to this topic and you wish to share then please talk to any of the teachers.
Sharing interests at Rosy Cheeks
Please remember that we love visitors at Rosy Cheeks. If you, a family member or friend would like to come join us to share an interest, hobby or job then please let us know. The children really enjoy it when people visit and this has many learning benefits for the children also.
Some visitors in the past have read stories, played musical instruments, baked with the children, taken craft activities, talked about their job and played sport.
Emerging Curriculum
The children have enjoyed learning about how different objects and machines move over the last few weeks. This orginal interest came from Waka who enjoyed a family trip on the recently re-opened Gondola. This interest has now lessened and we are noticing other interests emmerging through questions and comments. Over the next few weeks the teachers are going to listen and follow the lead of the children in developing the curriculum. One strong interest noticed the last couple of weeks is Weddings and this has been promoted through looking at different styles of weddings through photos and creating wedding dresses out of material.
Please help us in extending the children’s learning by sharing information with the teachers and encouaging your child in linking learning between home and preschool. We are excited to see what learning and interests emerge.
Mothers Day Concert
On Monday some of our Mums came for afternoon tea. The children performed 3 songs and then everyone sat down for a picnic. The children had been busy the week before making props for their songs and shortbread cookies. Thank you all those who came, it was a fantastic turnout and a great experience for the children to plan, prepare and perform for an audience.
Safekids course
Yesterday I attended a course run by Safekids. It was really interesting and focused on the new car seat law as well as bike/scooter/skateboard injuries in the morning and then trampoline, falls and drive way injuries in the afternoon. Their website is really good and offers excellent advice on keeping children safe. Take a look.

The old fashioned toys are the best!
We bought some traditional hoops for the children to play with. It is just so lovely in these days of technology that simple toys like these can provide such enjoyment, from skipping to hoola hooping, to spinning and rolling. We used them for aiming things at on the floor and rolling and aiming things through. Great fun.
Educa meetings
Thanks Kylie for running the parent Educa on line profile meetings this week, we have had some great feedback. Don’t forget that if you are still interested there is a sheet on the sign in desk to pop down your name for Friday this week or Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week.
Storytime Nook
Lily McHarg came to visit today and read the children a story. The loved having their big school friend visit them. Lily also brought in a whole heap of cushions which we have put next to the book shelf. This has created a lovely place to read and rest.
Out of zone places at local school
Each of the local schools that I have communicated with have now responded to the question about out of zone places. The details are up in the entrance hall, please see me if you require any further clarification. Kathy
